Workspace details, language, time zone and public address

A workspace is the shared place for one business in omotto. Its settings apply to that business, not just to the person editing them. Check that you are in the right workspace before making a change.

Keep these three identities separate:

  • Workspace details identify the shared business and set its default preferences.
  • Your personal profile holds your own name, sign-in email, language and time zone. Changing it does not rename the business.
  • The bot’s name, personality and reply language are separate settings. Renaming the workspace does not rename the bot.

Most fields save automatically. Text saves after you pause typing; language and time-zone choices save when selected. Watch the save status at the top of the screen. There is no page-wide Save button. Changing the public address and releasing an old address are exceptions: both require confirmation.

In new setup lists, omotto fills an unset customer language and time zone from your website, or from your browser once website reading has finished. If a website is on file but has not been read yet, browser defaults wait. The Coach tells you the choices once; ask to change them or use the settings. Saved choices are never replaced. If you clear or undo an automatic choice, it is not filled again during this setup. Phone country is never saved automatically. Its review card waits until a customer line is connected, even when language and time zone are already set. Older setup lists keep the review-first behavior.

During setup, time-zone suggestions can come from your browser or website information. Before your first launch, a Time zone and customer language card may appear in your setup conversation. It shows a source for each suggested value. You can edit the three choices, then select Save to save them together. Website suggestions take priority over browser hints. A phone region from the time zone is suggested only when that zone belongs to one country; otherwise choose it yourself. Reading or editing the card does not change your settings. Location details remain a separate setup item. If you change one of these settings elsewhere, including with the browser time-zone button, the old card is withdrawn. If time zone or customer language (or phone country in new setup lists) is still unset before your first launch, a replacement can appear when Setup checks again. It keeps your saved choices and suggests values only for the remaining blanks. A new hint for a still-blank field may produce another card, but a value already offered for that field in this setup is not offered again, including values you edited or dismissed. Some older setup lists keep the earlier one-off behavior when previous offer details are no longer available; use the settings below if no new card appears.

Open Settings → Workspace. The page includes Identity, Public access, Details, Business profile, and, with the appropriate access, the Business calendar and Home layout controls.

Business facts also have a home in Handbook → What [assistant name] knows → Business. Open Business profile for the business details, or Region & language for Phone country, Locale, Time zone and First day of the week. These edit the same workspace values; the heading uses your bot’s name.

  1. Check the Account name used for your workspace.
  2. Set Billing email, or leave it blank to use the workspace owner’s email.
  3. Choose Time zone, or keep Use platform default with the current default shown in parentheses.
  4. Choose Locale, or keep the platform default.
  5. Check Phone country if customers enter phone numbers without a country code.
  6. Choose First day of the week for the order of days in the business-hours grid.
  7. Review Business profile and fill in the business facts you want to provide.
  8. Wait for the save status to settle before leaving.

Only change the public address if you need a different address in shared links. Follow the separate steps below rather than treating it as another autosaved field.

Defaults below describe what happens when no value has been chosen. Existing workspaces may already contain details saved during setup.

Setting What it does Default or fallback
Account name The shared workspace name shown to members and used in workspace communications. It is required and can contain up to 100 characters. This is not the bot’s name. Keeps the name already entered when the workspace was created.
Billing email The workspace contact email. It is also the address used when someone replies to an email sent on behalf of your business. This is separate from your sign-in email and the customer-facing Inquiry email below. If blank, uses the active workspace owner’s email. The placeholder shows that address when available.
Time zone The workspace’s default time zone. A member’s personal time-zone choice takes precedence for their own view. Use platform default, with the current zone shown in parentheses.
Locale The workspace’s default interface language, the fallback language for its public pages, and the language of business records such as ticket topics. It is not a command to translate every customer conversation. Use platform default, with the current language shown in parentheses. The selector lists the supported interface languages.
Phone country Helps interpret locally written customer phone numbers, for example when sending a verification code. A country choice uses the two-letter country code and calling prefix shown in the list. Automatic, or Automatic (currently …) when a country can be inferred.
First day of the week Starts the business-hours grid on Sunday or Monday. This changes the display order, not which days the business works. Sunday.

Choosing Use platform default means following the platform’s current choice, including later changes. Choosing a specific time zone or language pins that workspace preference instead.

You can also ask the Coach to change the workspace’s Time zone, before or after launch. Review the proposed change and choose Save; asking or reading the card does not save it. This changes only the workspace time zone, not customer language or Phone country. You can also ask to return to the platform default.

Your own language can be different. A saved personal language preference takes precedence over the workspace. A language already selected in your browser session, or a supported browser language, can also determine the interface language before the workspace fallback is used. For personal preferences, see your account profile.

Customer language is separate. The bot’s default reply-language setting can inherit the workspace language when no separate bot default is selected. An established customer language is not replaced just because you change Locale or your own profile language. See bot language and personality for reply-language settings.

For verification, an existing valid phone number on the customer profile can supply the customer’s country first. Otherwise, omotto uses your explicit Phone country choice.

When Phone country is Automatic, omotto tries the country of the primary location’s service phone. If that does not supply a country, a Hebrew workspace language supplies Israel. English alone does not imply the United States or another country. If no country can be determined, use a full international phone number beginning with + and the country code.

Set a country explicitly if your customers use local numbers from a different country than your business phone suggests. This setting does not replace customer verification or turn an unverified number into a verified one. See User identification.

During Setup, a saved business name and description can be confirmed directly in the checklist. Confirm approves the name and description together, including their saved English and Hebrew versions, without rewriting them. The checklist shows your interface language first. A different saved translation is folded under Also saved in Hebrew or Also saved in English; expand it to read it before confirming. If either version changes before your click, the row refreshes so you can review and confirm again. Edit opens this Business profile section. If a translation is missing, the checklist displays the other saved language. Import review alone does not confirm the business.

These are facts about your business, not instructions for how the bot should behave. Use Handbook guidance for policies and bot identity settings for the bot’s own name.

Setting What to enter Default or fallback
Business name The name customers know, in the Hebrew and/or English fields. Fill the languages you use. Blank unless already provided. If one language is missing, the other can be used. Customer-facing naming can fall back to your configured brand name, then the workspace name.
About your business A short description, with separate Hebrew and English fields. Describe the business rather than giving reply instructions. Blank unless already provided.
Website Your business website. The field supplies https://; enter the site address after it. Blank unless already provided.
Inquiry email The email address customers should use to contact the business. It is not the same field as Billing email. Blank unless already provided.
Business type Online store, Restaurant, Service business, Clinic, or Other. No selection until one has been provided.
Do customers visit a physical location? Choose Online only or Has a physical location. This describes whether customers visit you. It does not enter the location’s address for you. Without a saved choice, this card displays Online only.

Street addresses, service phones and opening hours belong to locations, not to the workspace’s public web address. Where you have access, Address, hours & phone provides a link to the location settings.

The Slug is the short text identifying your workspace in public web links. It is not a street address or your own website’s domain. It also appears in some addresses used by connected services to send information to omotto.

Use lowercase English letters, numbers and single hyphens, up to 60 characters. Do not start or end with a hyphen, use spaces, or put two hyphens together. While you type, the page checks whether the address is available, already used, reserved by another workspace, your current address, or one of your own previous addresses.

Setting or action What it does Default
Slug Chooses the workspace address used in public links and some connection addresses. Typing does not save it. Your current workspace address.
Change address Opens a confirmation before saving a different address. No change until you confirm.
Previous addresses Lists retained old addresses that still lead to this workspace. Appears when there are previous addresses. Empty until an address has been retained after a change.
Release Removes a previous address so links and connected-service addresses using it stop working. No release until you confirm.
Website chat Allows public access to this workspace’s website chat. It does not install the chat on your website or turn on bot answers. Off unless enabled during website-chat setup or later.

Website chat also needs an eligible plan, a usable website connection and an allowed website address. Follow the full website-chat setup guide. Turning this public-access switch off makes website chat unavailable; it does not change the workspace address or act as a master switch for other connected services.

  • Market and Business days define the working week, holidays and special open or closed dates. The automatic market follows the inferred phone country unless you choose a market yourself. Changing Phone country can therefore change an automatic Business calendar. See every Business calendar setting and its defaults. The first day shown in a grid is not the same as the working week.
  • Home layout changes the order of information on the shared Home page, not what information is available. It is not a personal layout preference. See Home layouts, choices and suggestions.

You change the workspace’s public address

Section titled “You change the workspace’s public address”
  1. Edit Slug.
  2. Check the availability message.
  3. Choose Change address.
  4. Review the proposed address and any previous-address usage shown.
  5. Confirm with Change address.

The old address is retained under Previous addresses. Existing public links and connected-service addresses using that retained address continue to work. Use the new address for newly shared links. Changing Account name alone does not change Slug.

The allowance depends on your plan. When it is shown, the confirmation displays how many previous addresses are in use and the limit, if there is one. There is no single number to assume for every workspace.

A new rename can be refused when it would add a previous address beyond the allowance. You can switch back to one of your own previous addresses without adding another retained address overall. Otherwise, release an old address you no longer need, or review your plan.

  1. Find the address under Previous addresses.
  2. Choose Release beside that address.
  3. Read the warning.
  4. Confirm Release only if nothing still depends on it.

Releasing frees one previous-address slot. Links and connected-service addresses using it stop working. Update anything still using the old address before releasing it. Do not use Release simply to tidy the list.

The fallback is live, not a saved copy. If the active workspace owner’s email changes, the fallback changes too. Enter an explicit Billing email if you need a stable, separate business contact. See plan, billing and usage for managing your subscription. For results plans, see plans and result fees and your bill and disputes.

You can view settings but cannot change them

Section titled “You can view settings but cannot change them”

Viewing and editing Workspace settings are separate permissions. Text fields may be read-only, selectors and switches disabled, and address actions absent. Home layout can show its current value without edit controls. Some Business calendar controls require editing access and may not appear at all.

Ask the workspace owner to review your access. A control that appears editable is not proof that you have permission to save it.

  • Couldn’t save appears: read any field error, correct the value, check your connection, then choose Try again where shown. A changed field or flipped switch is not confirmation of a successful save. If a field has no retry button, correct or change it again after restoring the connection, then check the save status.
  • The address is unavailable: choose another address. An address retained by another workspace is not available just because it is no longer that workspace’s current address.
  • You typed a new address, but the saved address did not change: typing in Slug does not save it. Complete Change address and its confirmation.
  • Your language or time zone did not change: check your personal profile. A personal preference can override the workspace. For language, also check whether a language was already selected in the current browser session.
  • Customer numbers are interpreted incorrectly: check Phone country and the primary location’s service phone. Try the full international number. Do not change the workspace’s interface language solely to fix a phone-country choice.
  • Website chat is unavailable although the switch is on: check the plan, connection and allowed website addresses in the website-chat guide. Check bot activation separately if the chat opens but no bot answer arrives.

If a valid change still fails after retrying, contact support with the setting name, the error text and when it happened. Do not send passwords or verification codes.
